If you would like to show a lamb, goat, or barrow at the State Fair of Texas, or a steer at any of the major shows, you must first order tags and have the animal validated. Tags cost $12 per animal. (This is a $2 increase from last year.) Here are some important dates to be aware of:
- State Fair of Texas lamb and goat tag order deadline: April 10, 2014
- State Fair of Texas swine tag order deadline: April 17, 2014
- Major Show steer tag order deadline – April 10, 2014
- Validation (tag-in) for State Fair lambs, goats, swine and Major Show steers: Monday, June 30th.
- Steers and swine – 4pm – 7pm
- Lambs and goats – 5pm – 7pm
The order deadline will be here soon – please do not delay. Get your orders to the Extension Office as soon as you can. You will also have to actually enter the shows by completing paperwork and paying the fees at the entry night.
